About Neuron

Neuron is a business phone line that answers calls and texts on your behalf, built for people who work for themselves.

Neuron gives you a business number with an agent behind it, so the calls and texts that arrive while you are working still get answered, in your tone and from what it knows about your work. It is built for people who work for themselves: a cleaner, a photographer, a landlord, a trainer, a mobile mechanic, anyone who is excellent at the job and is also the one who picks up the phone.

What Neuron does

A business number of your own

Every plan, including the free one, comes with a real local number that belongs to you. It is not a shared line and not a forwarding trick, so you can print it, put it on the van, and keep it as the number your customers know you by.

An agent that answers your texts

Your agent reads your website and whatever else you give it, then answers customer texts in your tone from what it knows about your work. It quotes your prices and hours, and hands you a customer who is ready to book rather than a message you still have to reply to.

An agent that takes your calls

When you cannot pick up, your agent does. It talks to the caller, finds out what they need, and writes the call up for you as something you can read in ten seconds instead of a voicemail you have to sit through.

Caller ID on texts

A text from a number you have never seen arrives with a name on it, so you know whether you are reading a new customer or a wrong number before you open it. This runs automatically on the first message from a US number.

Search across every conversation

Ask for the address you were sent in March, the price you quoted last week, or the gate code at the house on Oak, and it comes back. Nothing you have been told is more than one question away, which is the difference between knowing your business and scrolling for it.

Voicemail you can read

Voicemails arrive written out, in the same thread as that person's texts, in your own recorded greeting. You can read one at a red light, which is where most of them reach you.

A chat on your website

On Premium, the same agent that answers your calls and texts also answers the chat box on your own site. The person asking gets the same answers whichever way they reached you, and you get one inbox instead of three.

What makes Neuron different

Every plan includes a number and an agent

The free plan is not a trial with the product removed. It comes with your own local number, texts to get going, and thirty minutes of calls with a hundred agent replies, so you can find out whether an agent answering for you actually works before any money changes hands.

Month to month, with nothing to sign

Pro is $9.99 a month and Premium is $29.99 a month, both cancellable whenever you like. Business-line services often ask for an annual commitment or a per-seat contract before you have answered a single call, which is a large bet to place on a tool you have not used yet.

The carrier paperwork is already done

Your texts are delivered from the first day, because Neuron handles the carrier registration that business texting in the US requires. Filing it yourself takes most people weeks, and messages sent before it clears are the ones that go missing. Here you file nothing.

Calls, texts, voicemail and website chat in one place

Answering services handle the phone, chat widgets handle the website, and neither knows what the other was told. Here it is one agent and one thread per customer, so the person who called you on Tuesday and texted on Thursday is one conversation rather than two strangers.

Built for one person, not scaled down from an enterprise tool

Most business phone systems assume a team, so they open on seats, extensions and call queues you have no use for. Neuron assumes there is nobody else to answer the phone, and everything in it is shaped around that.

Who uses Neuron

Neuron is built for one-person businesses where the owner is also the person who answers the phone:

  • House cleaners and cleaning services run by their owner
  • Photographers taking bookings and quoting on packages
  • Landlords and small property managers fielding tenant calls
  • Personal trainers and coaches scheduling their own clients
  • Mobile mechanics, detailers and other trades working out of a van
  • Contractors, landscapers and handymen quoting from the job site
  • Anyone ready to give their business a number of its own

The team behind Neuron

Jason Purdy, founder

Neuron was founded in 2026 in San Francisco by Jason Purdy, who builds the product and answers the support email. You can follow the company at @NeuronMessaging on X.

We run our own business line on Neuron

The number at the top of this page is not a demo we keep in a drawer. It is the line Neuron actually uses, answered by the same agent our customers get, which means every rough edge reaches us before it reaches you.

How Neuron works

Getting started

Signing up takes a few minutes, on the iPhone app or on the web. You claim a local number, point your agent at your website so it knows what you do, and the line is live. There is nothing to install for your customers and no carrier paperwork for you to file.

Who you deal with

Neuron is a small company, so the person answering your email is the person building the product. Write to info@neuronmessaging.com and you will hear back from a human.

Hearing it for yourself

You do not have to take any of this on trust. Call (415) 723-8881, which is Neuron's own business line, and the agent will answer. You can also put your website into the box on the home page and talk to an agent built from your own site before you sign up for anything.

Billing

Plans are month to month and you can cancel at any time, from inside the app or from the billing portal. Buying on the iPhone bills through the App Store and buying on the web bills through Stripe, and the app will not sell you a plan you already hold somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to give up my personal number?

No. Neuron gives you a second number that lives in its own app, so your personal number stays personal. Your customers reach the business line and your family reaches you.

Does my customer need to download anything?

No. Your business number sends and receives ordinary text messages and ordinary phone calls, so anyone with a phone can reach you. Nobody has to install an app to talk to your business.

Can the agent book jobs into my calendar?

Not yet. The agent answers questions from what it knows about your work and hands you a customer who is ready to book, and you take it from there. Calendar booking is something we intend to do properly rather than partly.

What does the agent know about my business?

Whatever you give it, starting with your website. You can point it at your site during signup and it will answer from what is there, and you can correct it or add to it whenever you like.

Can I keep the number if I stop paying?

The number is yours while your account is active, including on the free plan. If you move up to Pro you can choose your number rather than take the one you were given, and it stays with you.

What happens to my messages if I cancel?

Cancelling a plan is not the same as closing your account, so your conversations stay where they are and your account carries on. Messages are kept until you delete them or delete the account, and closing the account removes your data within thirty days.

Which devices does Neuron run on?

There is an iPhone app, a Mac app, and a full web app that runs in any browser, including on Android. Signing up on the web gets you the same number and the same agent as signing up on the iPhone.

Where is Neuron available?

Numbers and business texting are available in the United States and Canada. Neuron does not send international text messages.
